Biggest predictor of happiness and health
A few weekends ago, an old friend I hadn’t spoken to in years called me out of the blue. We ended up talking for hours. She had no idea, but reaching out was exactly what I needed that day. It was therapeutic.
That’s the thing about human connection—it has the power to heal us in ways we don’t always expect. It’s one of the pillars of deep health, yet it’s often the most overlooked.
We chase the workouts. We hit our calorie targets and macros. We devour books on personal growth. But if we’re not nurturing our relationships, we’re leaving a huge piece of the puzzle—and a lot of joy—on the table.
In fact, the longest-running Harvard study on human longevity found that the quality of our relationships is the single biggest predictor of happiness and health. Not our achievements. Not our bank accounts. Our relationships.
So here’s my challenge to you:
The next time someone pops into your head, don’t overthink it. Call or text them. Do it for yourself, but also do it for them. You never know if the universe is nudging you because they need to hear from you, too.
Don’t hold back. Don’t wait. In this crazy world, we could all use a little more connection and love.
